Mobility Service Dog in Huntsville, AL

A mobility support dog can greatly enhance an individual's independence and quality of life. These service dogs assist with tasks that may be impossible or difficult for their handler to perform alone. A trained brace and mobility service dog can accompany their handler anywhere and is specifically trained to meet their mobility needs.

Tasks can include assistance with standing, transferring positions, providing stability, retrieving dropped items, fetching medication or specific objects, offering ambulatory support, recognizing and responding to emergencies, alerting others in both home and public settings, pulling a wheelchair for short distances, opening and closing doors, and providing emotional support.

Mobility support dogs not only increase independence but also provide stability, safety, and peace of mind, allowing for more active and fulfilling lives. Dog Training Elite Huntsville offers a highly successful mobility service dog training program, tailored to the handler's specific needs and inclusive of their family. By training mobility service dogs in the owner's home, we foster stronger bonds and more lasting results, creating a positive working relationship between the handler and their dog.

If you're seeking a mobility service dog in Huntsville, AL, Dog Training Elite is here to help.

About Mobility Support Dogs

Most brace and mobility support dogs wear a specially designed harness that allows both the dog and handler to safely and securely work together to provide stable ambulation. Those who could benefit from a service dog specifically trained in brace and mobility support include:

Those with vertigo and balance disorders often experience dizziness and instability when walking. A mobility and brace support dog can help orient, ground, and stabilize their handler during movement.
Physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy, MS, spina bifida, or back injuries can cause irregularities in balance, gait, stability, and ambulation. Mobility support dogs provide stability and counterbalance, enabling their handlers to walk more safely with assistance.
Certain medications or disabilities can impair alertness and the ability to safely walk or respond to emergencies. A service dog can be trained to guide a disoriented handler through daily activities and assist during emergency situations.
Those prone to health risks that cause unconsciousness can benefit from a service dog trained to retrieve help, call emergency services using a specialized phone, and reposition the handler if they are unable to breathe.
Conditions like muscle dystrophy, strokes, and other ailments can diminish strength, coordination, and stability, making it difficult to perform simple tasks like opening drawers or reaching light switches. A mobility service dog can assist with these daily tasks, providing invaluable support to those with diminished mobility.

When we picked up our Aussie, he was doing a obstacle course like it was nothing. He is learning so much and so am I. Can't wait to see what happens next week.

I originally spoke to Christie regarding the process of getting the right kind of puppy to get to have as a service dog for my autistic son! She was very nice, informative and extremely patient with answering the million questions I had!! After we purchased our puppy, they got us in very quickly for our evaluation! When we got to the center we met with JB (the owner)! Due to school being out and having limited childcare help I had to bring my son with me to the evaluation and while I was worried that he’d be seen as a distraction/disruption however JB was very kind and patient to not only me but to my son the whole time we were there! After doing the evaluation with Spike (our puppy), JB explained the entire process of all the training that we would do from puppy classes to the personalized autism canine training classes! I would highly recommend Dog Training Elite to anyone who is looking for somewhere to get a dog trained just based off the interactions that we’ve had thus far!

My experience with DTE has been amazing. They have been incredibly punctual, patient, and so easy to work with throughout the entire process and the results I’ve seen with my dog’s behavior have honestly been amazing. My pup has fear based reactivity and before training, walks were stressful and reactive, but now I’m able to enjoy calm, attentive strolls with my dog. DTE has also given me the tools and instructions to feel comfortable having people coming into our home. The app and supplemental information is a huge bonus! DTE has helped to teach me clear expectations and communication skills between me and my dog. It’s made such a positive impact on both of us, and I feel so much more confident handling different situations. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for effective training and real results!

I have been working closely with Paige, the trainer, on getting my golden retriever registered and trained as a service animal. We also have a German shepherd that is the program as well. The GS has been working with JB and we could not be happier! Strongly recommend!

I just started training my third dog with Dog Training Elite. JB worked with me to train my Husky-mix when her behavior was so bad that I thought I would have to rehome her. Three years later she is still so obedient that we can take her anywhere dogs are welcome. I am also working with JB to train my goldendoodle to be my service dog, and now JB is training my hound dog. No matter the breed or the behavior issues, I highly recommend hiring DTE to train your dog. JB, Christie and Paige are amazing people and excellent trainers. They dedicate every Saturday holding group training sessions at various locations, rain or shine, all year long. Trust JB and his team, they will work with your dog and love them as much as you do.

Purchased the package where the trainer came to my house for one on one training for me and my dog. The staff provides great communication and ease of scheduling. The trainers are very patient and you can tell they have a love for dogs and use tools for assistance, not punishment. I cannot say enough about how gentle they are when training!!! We have now finished our 8th training session and I am very happy with our progress! Family members who have not been around since training has started said they can really tell a difference in my dog’s behaviors!!! This photo is after training- he is exhausted!

Have a 5 yr old hound that had regressed and was super stubborn - after a week of camp and two home visits she’s well on her way to being a model dog. Ears are no longer for decoration but she listens and responds better than before, manners have improved, and she’s more focused.
